Training Programs Overview
Ongoing training programs are available through the Division of Licensing Programs
(DOLP) and the Virginia Geriatric Education Center (VGEC). These programs are
funded through assisted living facility (ALF) and adult day care centers (ADCC)
licensing fees. Programs are provided exclusively for employees of licensed
ALFs and ADCCs in Virginia. The training schedule may be found online at: http://www.sahp.vcu.edu/gerontology/html/dss/home.html.
Training Video Catalog
The Training
Video Catalog lists training videos that licensed ALFs and ADCCs may borrow
at no cost by contacting their DOLP Licensing Office.
DOLP requires that if videos are used to meet the training requirements of
ALF or ADCC staff:
- The video-based training must be under the supervision of a facilitator
with verifiable expertise on the course topic who can provide guidance as
needed
- The facilitator must determine the number of training hours to be credited
to the individual, and
- The facility must document all successful completion of the training by
the individual including the name of the trainee, title of the training, name
of facilitator, sponsoring entity, date of training and number of hours of
training or other documentation defined in specific standards.
