An unannounced complaint investigation was conducted on March 18, 2019 and May 6, 2019, in response to a complaint received in the Valley Licensing Office on March 13, 2019. The concerns were regarding the following area of the licensing standards - infant feeding. Interviews were conducted and classroom observations were completed. The preponderance of the evidence did not supported the allegation regarding infant feeding schedule (on demand or according to parental instructions). The complaint is, therefore, not valid. Although not referenced in the original complaint licensing standard 22 VAC 40-185-(8)-560-F, ensuring meals served follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), was found to be in violation. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation of the lunch served on March 18, 2019 and discussion with staff, the program failed to ensure the meal served followed the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence: 1. Observation of the lunch served, on this date, determined that the meal lacked a source of grain. The lunch included beans, tomatoes and corn, pears and milk. 2. Staff #1confirmed that the lunch lacked of a source of grain. Plan of Correction: In the future, lunches served will include all required food groups.
