An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated on September 27, 2019 in response to allegations received by the Division regarding ratios. Based on staff interview and video documentation reviewed, the preponderance of evidence gathered during the investigation supports the allegations. The complaint is determined to be "valid". Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-C Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on staff interview and review of video footage, the facility failed to maintain the staff to children ratio applicable to the youngest child in the group when children are regularly in mixed age groups. Evidence: on September 5, 2019 at 4:30 p.m., Staff 1 was alone with 14 children ages 3 and 4 years. The staff to child ratio for this age group is 1:10. At 5:45 p.m., Staff 1 was alone with 9 children, ages 2, 3, and 4 years; the staff to child ratio for 2 year olds is 1: 8. Plan of Correction: Teachers will not be asked to be out of ratio.
