This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on March 11, 2021 and concluded on March 15, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 12 children present and four staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of staff records and interview, the facility did not obtain results of the central registry finding by the end of the 30th day of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #1 (hire date 09/28/2020) contained a central registry finding background check dated 04/19/2018.
2. Staff #3 stated Staff #1 is a rehired staff member with an original hire date of 12/04/2017.
3. Central registry finding background checks cannot be more than 90 days old from the current hire date.
4. During the remote inspection, Staff #3 confirmed an updated central registry finding background check was not obtained.Plan of Correction: Per the administration: We will obtain a new central registry finding background check for the staff and going forward have any re-hires complete the background checks again prior to rehire.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on review of staff records and interview, the facility did not obtain results of the National OBI field-print fingerprint background check prior to the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #1 (hire date 09/28/2020) contained a fingerprint based national criminal background check dated 12/12/2018.
2. Staff #3 stated Staff #1 is a rehired staff member with an original hire date of 12/04/2017.
3. Fingerprint based national criminal background checks cannot be more than 90 days old from the current hire date.
4. During the remote inspection, Staff #3 confirmed an updated fingerprint based national criminal background check was not obtained.Plan of Correction: Per the administration: We will obtain new fingerprint background checks for the staff and going forward have any re-hires complete the background checks again prior to rehire.
