Comments:
This annual subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on September 10, 2020.

An annual subsidy inspection was initiated on September 11, 2020, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection, and concluded on September 23, 2020. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection.

The vendor reported there were six children in care and three staff. The inspector reviewed two children?s records and two staff records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for
Child Care programs.

Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11
Description: Based on review of two children's records and interview, the vendor did not ensure a written allergy care plan for one child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction was obtained.

The record for Child #1 indicated the child had a food allergy. Staff #1 stated a written allergy action plan had not been obtained.

Plan of Correction: A copy of an allergy action plan was sent to the Child's family and is being completed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-H
Description: Based on review of two staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure two staff completed the department's health and safety update course.
The records for Staff #1 and Staff #2 did not contain the Virginia Annual Health and Safety Update Training. Subsidy Vendors and staff were required to have a certificate of completion for this training on file by March 1, 2020. Staff #1 stated the caregivers have not completed the Virginia Annual Health and Safety Update Training as of 9/21/2020.

Plan of Correction: We were not aware that this was required training. We will have the training completed by the end of next week.
