Richmond - The latest "Most Wanted" poster profiling Virginia’s most egregious child support evaders was released today by the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS).
VDSS Commissioner Maurice A. Jones said this is the 18th poster to be issued by the agency since the program began in 1989. It features 12 individuals, nine men and three women, who collectively owe more than $514,000 to their children.
"Virginia’s child support offices work regularly, often daily, with local, state and federal law enforcement officials to locate parents who are neglecting their court-ordered child support payments. The individuals profiled on the Most Wanted posters have gone to great lengths not to be found," Jones said.
The Most Wanted posters are used as a last resort in cases where other attempts at child support enforcement action have failed. Jones said the posters have succeeded over the years in obtaining information from the public regarding the whereabouts, employment and financial situation of the persons featured on the posters.
"The posters also provide for public awareness of the importance of meeting child support responsibilities to their children," VDSS Division of Child Support Enforcement Director Nick Young added.
