The Virginia Commission on National and Community Service is pleased to announce the opening of the nomination period for the 2003 Governor’s Community Service and Volunteerism Awards. The Commission, a presence in the state for eight years, oversees Virginia’s AmeriCorps programs and promotes community service and volunteerism across the Commonwealth.
The awards will recognize in twelve categories contributions made by Virginians to their communities. "The individuals and organizations who receive these awards are outstanding examples of citizenship, patriotism and generosity. The Virginia Commission on National and Community Service is honored to sponsor the 2003 awards on behalf of Governor Warner," commented Commission Chair, Greg Werkheiser.
To submit a nomination, complete the online Governor awards nomination form, call the Commission at (800) 638-3839, or send an e-mail to scp900@dss.state.va.us. Nominations are due by Friday, August 15 at 12:00 p.m.
Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony in Richmond on October 1.
