Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 11/4/2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 46 children (5-12yrs.) supervised by 4 direct care staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed knitting scarves, reading, playing computer and board games. There was a sufficient amount of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the Violation Notice.
If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Anansa Archer-Hicks at (703) 268-3295, or anansa.archer-hicks@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on record review, the program did not maintain documentation of evacuation procedures practiced at least monthly.
Evidence: There was no documentation of completed fire drills for September and October 2019.
Plan of Correction:
Corrected during inspection.
