VDSS works hard to develop, strengthen and protect the communities of Virginia, one of the key factors that influences our success is our collaboration and coordination of communities. We bring communities together for the enhancement of personal growth and resolution.

2-1-1 VIRGINIA is an easy to remember telephone number connecting people with free information on community resources in Virginia.

The Community Service Block Grant Program (CSBG) networks over 20 community action agencies, providing a wide range of community based services, including day care, employment, emergency services, housing, transportation, and adult and child education.

Virginia Faith-Based and Community Initiative (FBCI) staff provides outreach to community organizations by responding to requests for technical assistance and conducting workshops on applying for state and federal funding, successful collaboration and establishing volunteer programs. Also, a directory of state faith-based resources is under development. If you would like your organization and the services you provide listed in this resource directory of Virginia charitable and faith-based organizations, please complete, sign and submit the directory registration form.

The Family and Children's Trust Fund (FACT) provides support and development of services for the prevention and treatment of family violence in Virginia.

Through the Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), VDSS has over 200 nonprofit participants and processes 1,500 business donations annually. It collaborates or networks with statewide and local organizations on volunteerism projects and initiatives. Annually, 3.25 million volunteers are mobilized across the Commonwealth.

The Office of Newcomer Services is responsible for the resettlement of approximately 2,000 refugees into the Commonwealth every year. This office helps refugees and their families achieve economic self-sufficiency and successful integration into their new communities.

The Virginia Commission for National and Community Service serves communities by addressing needs in areas of education, public safety and human needs across the Commonwealth through AmeriCorps programs.
