Earned Income Tax Credit and Community Partners

Earned Income Tax Credit

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) helps hardworking Virginians keep more of what they earn. By working together, nonprofits can spread the word, connect families to free tax preparation and help more households access this support.

About the EITC

The Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal tax benefit that helps low- and moderate-income workers by reducing the taxes they owe or increasing their refund. It provides hope and financial stability for families across Virginia.

  • People may qualify whether single or married, with or without children.
  • The credit can mean hundreds or even thousands of dollars back each year.
  • Raising awareness helps more families claim what they’ve earned.
