Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-2:30pm. There were 77 children (2-5yrs.) directly supervised by 16 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 7 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, playing in centers which included dramatic play, blocks, sand tables, and small manipulative toys. Also children were learning about shapes, playing in the indoor playroom and outside. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on record review, 2 of 7 children's records were incomplete. Evidence: Child A and B were missing both parents' employment information.

Plan of Correction: This will be corrected today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that staff purses that may contain cosmetics, medications or other harmful agents were stored in an area that did not keep them inaccessible to children. Evidence: In the Rainbow classroom, a staff's purse was observed hanging on a coat rack behind the classroom's door.

Plan of Correction: Teachers have a cabinet with a key, it has been corrected.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on review of emergency drills, the center did not document at least two shelter-in-place drills for the 2017 calendar year. Evidence: Only one shelter-in-place drill was documented last year.

Plan of Correction: We will document all drills.
