Technical Assistance:
Discussed the need for a completed Virginia Central Registry Search by the owner of the child care center.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30am-12:30pm. The center will care for children age two years 6 months through twelve years. The center has one large area with partitions for classrooms and two smaller rooms for small group activities. Two bathrooms are on site and the center is equipped with a kitchen. The playground area has new equipment that has been installed and rubber mulch for resilient surfacing. The sample size consisted 3 staff records including the owner, director, and assistant. There was an abundant supply of new books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A
Description: Based on review of three staff records, the center did not have documentation of a tuberculosis (TB) test or screening for staff. Evidence: Staff 1 and Staff 2 did not have documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening.

Plan of Correction: One staff member has completed the test and will bring in a copy, the other staff member will schedule an appointment within the next few days.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C
Description: Based on observation, the first aid kit is not complete. Evidence: The first aid kit did not include a thermometer.

Plan of Correction: We will purchase a thermometer.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-D
Description: Based on observation of emergency supplies, the provider did not have all of the required items. Evidence: The center did not have a flashlight or weather band radio.

Plan of Correction: We will order a weather radio and flashlight.
