Discussed bug spray. Also discussed nap time- if a child does not fall asleep within 30 minutes, staff should offer the child a quiet activity.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:30pm - 3:30pm. There were 4 classes observed and had 58 (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 10 staff. The physical plant, staff records, children? records, evacuation procedures, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, napping, playing with staff, and tummy time. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Please call with questions 703-479-4679
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on review of children's files, the center has not maintained complete records. Evidence: 1. Child #1 does not have an address for one emergency contact. 2. Child #2 does not have updated immunization record. Plan of Correction: We are continuing to update children's files.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review of three staff files, the Center has not maintained complete files. Evidence: 1. Staff 1's file did not contain reference checks, job title, and the termination date. 2. Staff #2's file did not contain job title and reference checks. 3. Staff # 3 started in July and does not have a signed Sworn Disclosure statement maintained in the file. Plan of Correction: We are working to correct all files from past management and will ensure files stay current.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation and interviews, there are items inside that are not maintained and an outside area is not maintained in a safe manner. Evidence: 1. The infant room is not clean as evident by observing dirt on the infants who are crawling on the floor. Staff and adults who enter the room, have booties on o take off their shoes. The staff stated they have contacted the cleaning crew to complain. 2. The school age room has two cabinets that have water damage - signs of chipping laminate and warping. 3. The tarp, under the shaded cover, is ripping and may create tripping hazards. Plan of Correction: We will call maintenance about replacing items and will contact cleaning crew.
