- Technical Assistance:
Inspector and director discussed follow up on required background checks, maintaining staff files to ensure qualifications are met, and completion of clean up and set up of the classrooms throughout the facility.
An announced initial inspection was conducted today from 10:10am-12:45pm. There were no children in care as the facility is currently closed and preparing for opening day. Permits and required inspections were submitted in a timely manner. The physical plant, 7 staff records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-210-A-1 Description: Based on seven records reviewed, the center did not ensure all program leaders met program leader qualifications. Evidence: Staff 3 does not have documentation of meeting the program leader qualifications. Plan of Correction: We will ask the staff member to provide transcripts for their file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, electrical outlets did not have protective covers. Evidence: In the twos classroom, one outlet on the wall of cubbies had a sliding cover that was not functioning and therefore uncovered and accessible to children. In the art classroom, several sliding covers for outlets were not functioning and therefore uncovered and accessible to children. Plan of Correction: All the outlets in the building have built in sliding covers for all the outlets. Those sliding covers were malfunctioning and protective covers were placed into those outlets.
