- Technical Assistance:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on Friday, August 24, 2018 from approximately 12:15 PM until 4:00 PM to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The following ratios were observed with a total of 85 children present during the inspection:
Infants - 15 children with 4 staff
Toddlers - 8 children with 2 staff
Twos (Discovery Preschool) - 15 children with 2 staff
Threes (Preschool) - 13 children with 2 staff
Fours & Fives (Pre-K) - 16 children with 2 staff
School Age - 18 children with 2 staff
During the inspection, children were observed being held, rocked and fed, resting at nap time, having their diapers changed, taking bathroom breaks and washing their hands, working puzzles, building with blocks, playing outside and eating snack. Snack consisted of either crackers or pretzels and cheese. All areas of the center including classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor playgrounds were inspected. The center was equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. During the inspection eight children's and eight caregivers? records.
A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E Description: Based on review of eight staff records, three staff did not complete required training within the required time frame. Evidence: During the inspection, the licensing inspector observed the records of Staff #1 (hire date 05/02/18), Staff #2 (hire date 05/14/18) and Staff #6 (hire date 05/28/18) contained certification of CPR and first aid that was completed online but did not include an in-person competency demonstration. Staff are required to complete CPR and first aid certification within the first 30 days of beginning employment and the training is required to include an in-person competency demonstration. Plan of Correction: We will schedule a training that meets the required components.
