- Technical Assistance:
Resilient Surfacing was discussed. While there was sufficient resilient surfacing in the fall zones of the playground, there were patches of grass in several areas of the play area. It is recommended these patches are removed to avoid overgrowth in the fall zones of the equipment.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:15am - 10:30am. At the time of the tour there were 42 children in care with 8 staff present. Children were observed eating breakfast and reading books. Infants were observed sleeping in cribs and being held by staff. There were no children with food allergies at the time of inspection. A special lunch for grandparents was scheduled for lunch time.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were maintained a safe condition. Evidence: 1. In the pre-k room there was peeling paint at least an inch wide on the door in reach of children in care. 2. The trike on the playground had rusted hardware on the seat. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director:. A work order is in for the entire building to be painted by 09/22/18. The hardware will be replaced.
