Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted starting at 10:05am and ended at 12:00pm. There were 27 children present today with 4 staff. At the start of the inspection, there was a zumba class taking place in the public auditorium. Children were observed playing in small groups with puzzles and manipulatives, learning sign language and guessing objects based on their sounds. A total of 8 medications with authorizations were reviewed. Medication Administration Training (MAT) and First Aid/CPR certifications were checked today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-C Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain additional immunization once between each child's fourth and sixth birthday. Evidence: Child #5 turned 6 years old in 9/2018. The most recent immunizations on record for this child are dated 12/26/2013, when the child was 15 months old. Plan of Correction: I will email the parents today and they will get the forms to us.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on observation and record review, the center has not obtained written parental permission to administer medication that is being kept on site. Evidence: Child #1 and Child #6 both have emergency medication's kept at the center in case of accidental exposure to an allergen. There is no written medication authorization from the parents to administer the medication. Plan of Correction: We will follow-up with Child #1's parents and Child #6 will be going to the doctor this week.
