An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 11:10am and 12:50pm. 18 children were present with 3 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. The physical space, 2 staff records, 2 children's records, evacuation drills and attendance documents were reviewed. Medication policies were reviewed and in compliance. Required documents were posted. Children were observed interacting with staff members while preparing to go to the playground. Interactions were positive. The space was clean and contained an abundance of age appropriate materials. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the space was not kept in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: Screws at the base of two toilets were exposed, posing a hazard. 3 out of 4 light bulbs in 1 out of the 2 bathrooms were not working. Paint was peeling in multiple locations within the classroom (near the painted blackboards and under the window). Peeling paint was at child's level. Plan of Correction: The staff addressed the screws and light bulbs while the LI was present. Painting will be scheduled.
