Technical Assistance:
Discussed with center management the number of children that can be permitted to be on the playground at one time, background checks.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 11:00 am to 2:15pm. There were 91 children in care of 13 staff members. The children were observed playing outdoors including the gardening center, and preparing for lunch and washing hands. 5 staff and 5 children records were reviewed. Medications, emergency drill records, emergency supplies and other documents were reviewed. A complete walk through of the center was conducted and the playground area was re-measured. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-1
Description: Based on staff interview, center's staff does not have the required training to administer prescribed medication. Evidence: 1. An Auvi Q was found on site for a child in the 2's classroom. 2. There is staff present on site with the medication administration training (MAT) but none of MAT certified staff have the additional training required for the administration of an Auvi-Q.

Plan of Correction: We will get staff trained. Staff started to sign up during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B
Description: Based on observation, resilient surfacing did not comply with minimum safety standards where playground equipment is provided. Evidence: Mulch under four swings on the playground is less than inch in thickness (the ground is visible).

Plan of Correction: We will rake and redistribute the mulch around the swings.
