An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-1:45pm. There were 59 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 11 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 4 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reciting numbers in spanish, practicing writing, reading books, playing outside, and eating snack. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not maintain areas inside the center in a safe condition. Evidence: In the 2 year old classroom, there is an area of peeling paint on the back well between the book case and block shelf. In the Pre K classroom, there is an area of peeling paint on the wall by the dress up area. Plan of Correction: A maintenance request has been placed for the two areas.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review and observation, the center did not have written authorization from the child's physician to administer a long term medication. Evidence: 1) Child 1 has a long term medication at the center and is missing a doctor's signature authorizing the center to administer the medications for longer than 10 days. 2) Child 2 has two long term medications at the center and is missing a doctor's signature authorizing the center to administer the medications for longer than 10 days. Plan of Correction: We will have the parents complete new forms which include physician's signature.
