63.2(17) License & Registration Procedures
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 2/5/19. There were 32 children present in two classes with four staff supervising. Five children's records were reviewed. Four staff records had been previously reviewed with no necessary updates. One as needed medication was observed. The inspector arrived at the center at 9:30 am and departed at 11:30 am. The children were observed during large group times, during tooth brushing, during free (center time) play time, and during lunch.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: Based on observation and interview, the center failed to ensure that there was an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction. Evidence: 1. The last fire inspection report that was observed posted was dated 2/23/17. 2. According to the lead staff person, this is the last report that has been made available. Plan of Correction: This will be reported a second time to the administration to have an inspection completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-G Description: Based on observation and interview, the center failed to ensure hazardous substances not kept in original containers were clearly labeled with the contents that was in the substitute container. Evidence: 1. There was a generic spray bottle observed in the locked janitor's closet in one classroom. There was no label of the contents which was clear but produced bubbles when shaken and had an odor of a cleaning product. 2. The lead staff person was asked of the contents and stated that it was the school janitor's supplies. This staff person stated that she was unaware of the contents. Plan of Correction: The lead teacher will ask the janitor of the contents and ensure that it labeled properly.
