An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:30am-11:00am. There were 77 children directly supervised by 13 staff. The physical plant, 3 staff records, 3 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Measurements were taken for the library, teacher's lounge, and indoor play area. Children were observed participating in spanish class, playing with manipulatives, coloring, and completing a matching game. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center did not maintain a complete record for each enrolled child. Evidence: Child 1 is missing a record of viewing proof of the child's identity and age. (Child 1, Date of Enrollment 9/4/2018) Plan of Correction: We will ensure to maintain the record for viewing the proof of identity.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-4 Description: Based on observation, the center did not maintain a ratio of one staff member for every 10 children. Evidence: In the foxes classroom, one staff member was observed with 14 children. The other staff member was in the bathroom from 10:24am - 10:26am. Plan of Correction: The classroom teacher came back into the room and we will discuss calling adminstration when breaks are needed.
