Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on February 28, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 29 children present, the children were grouped in three classrooms. Each classroom was observed and was in compliance with staff to child ratio requirement. A discussion was held with the Program Director regarding the new subsidy requirements which became effective on October 17, 2018. The PD is currently reviewing the program's hand book for revision and to incorporate the new requirements. Children were observed during free play, nap time, hand washing procedures, and afternoon snack. Medications were observed in the Center. Documentation of the practiced emergency drills, the annual fire inspection, and the annual health inspection was reviewed. A sample of staff and children's records were also reviewed. The inspection was conducted from 12:15 to 5:45 PM. Findings were reviewed at exit. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
