Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:30 am-11:30am. At the time of entrance, 18 children were in care with 3 staff members present. Children were listening to the teacher read a book on the playground before beginning on their volcano experiment, printing their names on paper and painting volcanos. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, evacuation drills and attendance records. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C
Description: Based on staff record review and interview, the center did not obtain the results of a follow up tuberculosis screening at least every two years from the date of the first initial screening or testing for a staff member. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 had a tuberculosis screening in the file dated 1/062017 which was expired. The staff member stated she had an updated screening in January 2019, but did not have the documentation.

Plan of Correction: The staff member requested a copy of the screening during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. The cleaning products were inside the high cabinet with a lock, but the key was inside the lock.

Plan of Correction: The key was removed from the lock and placed in the appropriate location during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on record review, the center did not implement a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year. Evidence: 1. The center had documentation of practicing only one shelter in place drill in 2018.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure the shelter in place drills are completed in a calendar year and not a school year.
