Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10 - 12:30 pm today. I observed children digging, pouring and mixing in the playground; and involved in dramatic play on the first real day of spring/summer outdoors. I also observed morning time with self-chosen Montessori materials. Records and medications were found to be in complete and organized order, and the monthly analyisis/log of incident reports was outstanding. Tomorrow night is a parent workshop on Mathematics & Young Children. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some areas of the playground that needed attention. Evidence: There were some wooden areas with minor splintering on posts; sharp areas on small tree trunks and a nail exposed in a wooden railroad tie.

Plan of Correction: Some items were corrected during the inspection; others will be taken care of tomorrow..
