- Technical Assistance:
Discussed medication authorization form needs to identify the center that was given permission to administer the medication.
Licensing inspector arrived at 8:10 am and departed at 9:00 am to conduct a licensing inspection and a Subsidy Health and Safety inspection. Upon arrival there were 42 children in care with 3 staff . Children were observed participating in various table activities, cleaning up , morning discussion and leaving to go to class. The sample size consisted of 4 children records . Three medication was reviewed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure there was a procedure that include methods to prevent use of outdated medication. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2019, child #1 medication expired January 2019. The center director reviewed medication policy and confirmed there was a not a written procedure for outdated medication. Plan of Correction: Site director will check medication on a montly basis. On page 22 of our Family Handbook, it was added that SD will return expired medicine to the family.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-6 Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure a copy of the special order issued by the department was posted in a prominent place at each public entrance of the licensed premises to advise consumers of serious or persistent violations. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2019, the special order was not posted in the center. The center director confirmed the special order was not posted. Plan of Correction: Site director will ensure that this is posted for the remainder of the year. It was on site, however not posted.
