Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection, at which play groups, outdoor time, story time, and music time were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Sixteen (16) children, aged 3 years-5 years, were found to be in care with 2 staff, administrative staff, and other school staff. Previous violations were reviewed, and had been corrected. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9:20am and concluded at 11:20am.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B
Description: Based on review of the playgrounds used by the children the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required related to depth of the resilient surfacing. Evidence: Under the swings and climbing equipment there was not adequate resilient surfacing as required by the ASTM guidelines. The surfacing measured approximately 2-3 inches deep in the areas under and around the climbing equipment and swings.

Plan of Correction: More resilient surfacing will be added over the summer to ensure compliance prior to the beginning of the new school year. The mats will then be replaced on top of the new surfacing to add extra layers of protection and to assist in the displacement of the resilient surfacing when in use.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on review of documentation and discussions with staff the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to monthly emergency escape drills. Evidence: There was no documented/practiced emergency escape drill for the month of March 2019 and April 2019 as required.

Plan of Correction: Drills will be practiced and documented as required monthly to ensure future compliance.
