An announced complaint investigation was conducted with the director beginning at 8:15 AM and ending at 10:15 AM. The investigation was regarding allegations of staff-to-child ratios and care, protection, and guidance. Five staff interviews were conducted. A review of documentations and classroom observations were conducted. The complaint regarding care, protection, and guidance was determined to be invalid. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-1 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on review of staff completed count sheets, the facility did not ensure that for children from birth to the age of 16 months, that staff to child ratios were one staff member for every four children. Evidence: On April 2, 2019, the licensing inspector observed nine infants in the care of two staff members. Plan of Correction: On this particular day, the county bus was late picking up the school age children and the third infant teacher was a little late. We have adjusted our schedules to allow for unexpected events such as what occurred that day.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-4 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, written attendance, and staff interviews, the center did not ensure that for children three years of age to eligibility to attend public school, that staff to child ratios were one staff member for every ten children. Evidence: On April 2, 2019, the licensing inspector observed fourteen children in the one teacher. Plan of Correction: On this particular day, the county bus was late picking up the school age children and the third infant teacher was a little late. We have adjusted our schedules to allow for unexpected events such as what occurred that day.
