63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
An unannounced inspection was conducted today, 5/6/19 and a review of records took place on 5/10/19. The children were observed having breakfast which met USDA requirements. Hand washing was also observed. Children's records were reviewed and staff records were reviewed on 5/10/19 at the main office. There are 14 children in care with four staff present. A violation notice was completed during the inspection. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Inspection began: 9:10 am and ended 10:30 pm, the record review began: 10:00 am and ended 12:30 pm.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not maintain the outside area in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The bean box on the playground is full of rain water. 2. The grass on the playground measures approximately 12 inches and is also growing in the mulch. These two areas could harbor ticks and mosquitoes. 3. There are weeks at the front door, on the concrete stoop.

Plan of Correction: Maintenance has been notified that they are to cut the grass and the staff will empty the water in the bean box.
