A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 05/20/19 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced inspection was conducted from 11:00am - 12:30pm. Upon arrival there were 28 children in care with 7 staff present. A sample of 5 children and 2 staff records were reviewed. There was one child inc are with a diagnosed food allergy. Children were observed during lunch, hand washing and nap. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11 Description: Based on a record review the vendor did not ensure there was a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic. Evidence: Child #5 had a diagnosed food allergy. The vendor had a written allergy care plan signed b y the parent, however it did not include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview: The vendor had a care plan from the parent. The vendor will have the parent also obtain written instruction from the child's doctor.
