Technical Assistance:
Consultation provided on emergency preparedness documents required in the buses while transporting children to and from school and frequently visited locations. You should consider replacing those long phone cords with a shorter cord so that the hanging cord wont continue to present strangulation hazards.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the Administrative team. Forty one children were present with 8 staff providing supervision. Most of the children were napping during the walkthrough. Six staff and children's files were reviewed today as well as 6 medications for five children. The center is up-to date on their escape and shelter in place drills. Please submit your plan of correction by June 3, 2019. Arrival time: 12:40 pm Departure time: 3: 40 pm

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the center was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: A telephone cord from a wall mounted phone was hanging down within reach of the children in the Pre-K classroom which presented a strangulation hazard.

Plan of Correction: Phone cords will be replaced in the Pre-K classroom on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Old cords will be discarded.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that hazardous substances were not kept locked. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector observed an unlocked laundry room with a container of detergent sitting on the floor accessible to children. Unlocked in the hallway closet in the breezeway were Goo Gone, Disinfectant cleaning spray, 2 containers of dust remover and Home Lice Control Spray.

Plan of Correction: The unlocked laundry room door located in the non-mobile infant room was locked immediately during the inspection. The unlocked breezeway closet was locked immediately during the inspection and all products were discarded on 5/30/19.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-B
Description: Based on observation in the older infant classroom, it was determined that four cribs, which were occupied did not have their names listed on the cribs.

Plan of Correction: All cribs were labeled during the inspection visit on 5/30/19.
