Comments:
A subsidy health and safety inspection was completed on June 7, 2019 from approximately 10:45 AM to 2:40 PM to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The center's director and assistant director assisted the inspector throughout this inspection. The census for today's inspection consisted of 57children. During the inspection, children and staff were observed participating in a variety of activities including having relay races in the gym, singing songs, reading, preparing for lunch, and eating lunch. The classrooms are decorated with the children's artwork and are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. The classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and bathrooms were inspected. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps and a menu. Five children's records, five staff records, fire drill, shelter in place and lockdown drills, daily attendance, first aid and nonmedical emergency supplies were reviewed. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector, Heather Dapper, at (804) 662-7014.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-770-B-5
Description: Based on an interview with the director and documentation review, the center did not ensure the emergency preparedness plan contained continuity of operations procedures to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency. Evidence: The emergency preparedness plan did not contain continuity of operations procedures to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency. This subsidy regulation became effective on October 17, 2018 and was required to be in place by December 17, 2018.

Plan of Correction: "The above listed violations were corrected on site to update the center's emergency response plan & the parent emergency plans for the handbook."
