The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection on Wednesday July 31, 2019 between 10:50 am to 3:15 pm to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The children in care were observed by the licensing inspector in the various classroom settings. The licensing inspector was notified that the Pre-K and Kindergarten groups of children in care were offsite at a field trip in the community. The census for today's inspection consisted of 73 children in care and 13 staff. There were additional staff on site for administrative and support purposes. During the inspection, the licensing inspectors observed the children in care completing a variety of activities to include completing bathroom breaks, transitioning into napping, napping, engaged in free play with peers/staff, tutoring, participating in various centers activity, and eating lunch. The center's lunch today consisted of hot roast beef sandwich, mash potatoes, bananas, and milk. During the inspection, the following information was reviewed by the licensing inspector: daily attendance, emergency supplies, injury reports, fire and shelter-in-place drills, liability insurance policy. There were seven children?s records and ten staff's record reviewed during this inspection. The required posting were inspected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the Twos classroom (115), there was an unlocked closet containing a bottle of cleaner on the topshelf with the label "keep out of reach of children". Plan of Correction: The closet was locked during the inspection.
