Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on August 19, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspection was initiated at 2:00pm and concluded at 5:00pm. Upon the inspectors arrival The school age children were returning from the playground. Pre-school, toddlers and two's were napping while one infant was having a snack. Later children were observed having snack that consisted of cheese and crackers with juice. Pre-school children made cookie with play-dough and cookie cutters, dress-up in princess dresses and played with action figures. The toddlers colored pictures and staff participated in building block towers with the children. School age children watched a movie and played games at the tables. Today's lunch consisted of pepperoni pizza rolls, pineapples, peas and milk. Staff interactions were positive. All classrooms, rest rooms, kitchen and hallway area were inspected. The classrooms are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials for literacy, art, fine and gross motor skills and creative play. The facility had the required information posted to include the License, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, attendance sheets, daily schedule, evacuation maps and various parent information. The first aide kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete for the building. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Six staff records were reviewed during today's inspection along with the records of five children. Staff have current CPR, First aid training and daily Health observations. Per the director, medications are currently not being administered. Today's Ratio: (Infants): 2 children with 1 staff. (Toddler): 9 children with 1 staff (during nap/ later an additional staff was observed). (Pre-school): 10 children with 1 staff. School age: 9 children with 1 staff. The last emergency evacuation drill was conducted on 07/25/2019. The two required shelter-in-place drills for the 2019 year were completed on 04/19/2019 and 08/12/2019. A lock down drill was conducted on 03/05/2019. The emergency preparedness plan is current. Description: Based on review of staff records, the center did not ensure staff who work directly with children completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff #5, hired 01/24/2019, had documentation of Virginia Pre-service Training dated 07/15/2019, exceeding the 90 day allowance from hire to complete.

Plan of Correction: Per the owner: I will make staff understand the time frames in which training must be completed.
