All staff must complete the specific VA Mandated Reporter Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect Training - Course 5691

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 27 children in care, with a total of 3 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, staff records, staff training, emergency preparedness items, the physical plant, children's medications, and classroom programming were inspected today.

The children were observed playing outside, engaging in classroom play, dancing to music, and eating lunch. The children were served cheese pizza, fresh salad, applesauce, and milk for lunch today.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that one record was not complete.
Evidence:
Child record C does not include "authorized pick up" information.

Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent to update the information in the file.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two potentially hazardous substances were not locked.
Evidence:
In the PreK 2 classroom, two containers of table cleaning wipes were stored in upper level cabinets that were not locked.

Plan of Correction: The items were immediately moved to the locked closet during the inspection.
