Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today beginning at 3:40pm At the time of entrance, 74 children were in care with 5 staff members present. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, medications, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, 7 children's records and Staff certification for CPR/First Aid and Mat training were reviewed. Ratios were in compliance and required documents were posted. The site was clean and organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. The children were observed during check in procedures, reading, working on homework, washing hands, snack, cooking project and lining up to go to the gym. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N
Description: Based on medication review, the center did not dispose of medication not picked up by the parent within 14 days after an authorization for medication expired.
Evidence:
1. Child A had a medication at the center with an expired authorization form signed 8/31/2017 and expired 8/30/2018.

Plan of Correction: I will request the form from the parent today when they pick up.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E
Description: Based on review of practice drills and interview, the center did not maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year.
Evidence:
1. The center had record of fire drills for all months, except for July 2019 and August 2019. The supervisor stated the drills were practiced, but did not have the record for those months.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I keep a copy after the summer in the future.
