Technical Assistance:
We discussed the importance of always documenting the initial parent notification of an injury. Also, we reviewed prompt notification procedures for head injuries, no matter how seemingly minor.

Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 9:41 AM to 1:10 PM. Today, there were eleven children, ages three to four years, with two to three staff. I viewed program activities, daily routines, equipment, agency inspection reports, insurance, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, injury records, emergency supplies and drill records, lunch, nutrition, posted information, five records for children, medication, two staff training records, indoor and outdoor areas. We discussed the procedure for changing pull-up diapers. The site staff recently replaced mulch on the playground and have plans to do regular raking. The teachers were observed providing attentive supervision and positive guidance. The children have been learning about trees. I viewed the former school cafeteria which is now used for gross motor activities and lunch. Staff were encouraged to use walkie-talkies for communication when at least one staff remains inside or in another part of the building.

No violations observed at this time. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
