Comments:
An inspection took place on 10/30/2019 between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm. During this time, there were 21 children in care. The youngest child was 2 1/2 years old and the oldest child was 5 years old. The children were observed during free play, eating breakfast and lunch, circle time and outside play and napping. Also observed the playground structures and safety, sanitation and cleanliness,5 staff's and 5 children's records, drill records, and first aid kit contents.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to the children.

Evidence:
1. In blue room, the cabinet locking mechanism was not latched to prevent entry. There were several containers of cleaning chemicals. The cabinet was approximately five feet off the ground.
2. In the kitchen area, there was a container of cleaning wipes that were not locked. They were sitting on a shelf.

Plan of Correction: During the inspection the cabinet was locked and the container of wipes were removed and placed in a locked cabinet. All areas will be monitored.
