Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/12/19 from 11:30am until 1:00pm. At the time of the tour, there were 24 children in care with 3 staff and 1 administrator. A sample of 5 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed participating in learning activities and resting quietly during nap time. First aid and emergency supplies, documentation of emergency practice drills, the emergency preparedness plan, children's injury reports and center postings were reviewed. There are currently no children in care who require medication administration. One violation in the area of special care provisions and emergencies is identified on the violation notice and was discussed with the center owner during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C
Description: Based on a review of the first aid kit and interview, it was determined the center did not ensure that the first aid kit contains all required items.

Evidence:
1. The center's first aid kid did not include triangular bandages.
2. The center owner confirmed that the first aid kit was lacking triangular bandages.

Plan of Correction: Triangular bandages will be purchased and placed in the first aid kit.
