Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 120 children with 25 staff present today. This inspection focused on the main building of the campus. Walk thru of all classrooms, a review of medications, staff interviews conducted and observation of the programming was made. The children were finishing lunch. Lunch today was meatballs, pasta, broccoli and fruit. Staff observed sitting beside children on their mats encouraging sleep. Artwork throughout the classroom was on display such as brush painted bears, masks and letters. Holiday decorations on display on the lobby. A total of 5 staff and 5 children's records were reviewed. The center was found well maintained and clean. This inspection began at approximately 12pm and ended at 2pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on review of medications, the center failed to follow their own medication policy regarding expired medications.
Evidence: One bottle of Benadryl was found in the PreK class. This medication expired in May 2019.

Plan of Correction: We will request that the parent provide a new bottle of this medication.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on observation of the Preschool II class, food brought from home was not properly labeled.
Evidence: A half bagel in a ziplock bag was observed in a child's cubby. The bag was not labeled with the child's name and date.

Plan of Correction: This food was disposed of immediately. We will remind staff to ensure that all food is properly labeled that was brought from home.
