An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 8:50am to 11:30am with the Director. There were 11 children in care, ranging from 16 months to four years of age, supervised by three staff. The children were observed having free play in centers and practicing writing letters. Four children?s records and two staff records were reviewed. The Center has staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid, as well as Daily Health Observation. The center does not administer medication. The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent Fire Inspection on file was dated 2/11/19 and the most recent Health Inspection on file was dated 10/15/19. Lunch today will be chicken tenders, wheat bread, tater tots, applesauce, and milk. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on review of two staff records, the center did not ensure that staff obtained and submitted the results of a Tuberculosis (TB) test at least every two years from the date of the first initial screening or testing. Evidence: The last documentation of a TB test for Staff A was dated 6/16/17. Plan of Correction: I will have her go this week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with the director, the center did not practice a monthly evacuation drill. Evidence: The last documented evacuation drill was dated 10/28/19 and the director confirmed this was the last evacuation drill practiced. Plan of Correction: We will make sure we complete an evacuation drill every month.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of two staff records and interview with the director, the center did not complete a search of the central registry and any child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry maintained by any other state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years. Evidence: The sworn statement for Staff A, completed 8/14/19, indicated that the staff had lived in Georgia within the past five years, but the center has not completed a central registry check from Georgia. Plan of Correction: We are filling it out today and will send it off today.
