Technical Assistance:
The following was discussed with the program director:
*recognizing tipping hazards

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Upon arrival there were 2 children in care with 2 caregivers. Both staff and children's records were reviewed. Children were observed playing with toys and during lunch.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
1. In the main daycare room there were three cubby shelves and one wooden art station that were not secured and posed a tipping hazard.

2. There was a large flat screen television on a stand measuring at least five feet high. It was not secured and had an electrical cord plugged into the wall across part of the carpeted area where children play, posing a tipping and tripping hazard.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview:
The cubby shelves and art station will be secured to the wall. The television was moved out of the classroom until it is able to be mounted to a wall.
