63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-12:30pm. There were 27 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed resting and playing quietly. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-G
Description: Based on Observation it was determined that cribs were not used for children under 12 months of age.

Evidence: During inspection a child under 12 months was asleep in bouncy chair and later moved to the lap of teacher with unoccupied cribs available.

Plan of Correction: I was informed that child must propped up for feedings and sleeping.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on inspection of Medication on site it was determined that the medication available was not labeled with Child's name.

Evidence: During inspection medication designated for Child C did not have their name on it.

Plan of Correction: Due to the greasiness of the medication the name constantly rubs off. The name was reapplied during inspection.
