Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included Incident Reports, updating allergy action plans for the center, medications and record keeping.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection took place today from 3:30 - 5:20 pm. There were 61 children present with 6 staff. I observed children engaged in a variety of activities: building a roller coaster out of plastic pieces; fuse beading; a craft project of weaving on top of portraits of the children; block building; decorating the classrooms and playing in the gym. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there was furniture not maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Evidence:
There was a couch with the stuffing coming out of the back of the cushion, and a worn staff office chair that had exposed foam, creating an unsafe condition for children in care with breathing issues such as asthma. .

Plan of Correction: We will put in a request to replace the chair and couch.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G
Description: Based on a review of medications today, one child's medication did not have all required items.
Evidence:
The emergency allergy medication for Child # 1 did not have the accompanying prescription label as required.

Plan of Correction: We have asked for it before but will talk to the parent again.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N
Description: Based on a review of medications today, there were medications present when no longer being used.
Evidence:
Medications were present for Child 2 and 3, who no longer attend the program. These have been present for over 2 weeks.

Plan of Correction: We have tried to contact the parents, but will give them to the school nurse for disposal.
