An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 12/22/15. The inspector arrived at 2:30 and the provider was preparing to take one child home and pick up two school age children. Inspector left at 3:00 and returned at 5:00 and completed the inspection at 6:30. At 2:30 there were six children present with the provider for a total of 17 points. When the inspector returned, there were seven children for a total of 16 points. The inspector spoke with the provider and with the children who were present. The children were observed playing. The provider was observed loading the children into her van. After the provider returned to the home from picking up the school age children, she had a holiday party for the children and parents. Lunch today was chicken nuggets, French fries, carrots, peaches and milk. Last evacuation drill was on 11/25/15 and a shelter-in-place drill was conducted on 11/24/15. Shelter-in-place drills are conducted monthly. All required documents were posted including the license, licensing inspection notices, menu and evacuation map.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-510-A Description: The provider failed to provide a separate crib for each infant. There were two infants present, but only one crib set up. Evidence: When the inspector arrived there were two infants, both five months old, present. There was only one crib for the infants to place the infants in for naps. The provider stated that she had not set up the second crib. Plan of Correction: I will pull the other crib out when (the second infant) is here.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A Description: The provider did not ensure that there were sufficient caregivers for the numbers and ages of the children in care. Evidence: When the inspector arrived at 3:30, the provider stated that she had 17 points and was by herself. The inspector counted six children for a total of 17 points. The provider stated that one child who she thought was going to be in preschool on this day, was present as the preschool was closed. She was preparing to leave with the children to take one infant home and pick up two from school. At that time she would have a total of 16 points. Plan of Correction: This was my fault, I gave my assist. day off and didn't count my pts. right.
