An announced initial inspection was conducted with provider and assistant. There are currently no children enrolled, so not all standards could be reviewed. The entire basement is dedicated to child care; the area is spacious and well supplied with age appropriate equipment and activities. The provider will not administer medication at this time - Medication Administration Training is required to administer medicine. First aid and CPR certification is valid until 1/09/2017. There are no pets in the home. The fireplace is gas powered, but is not used. Four cribs meet the CPSC standards - manufactured 1/2013). Original background checks reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-760-A-1 Description: Based on observation, the provider did not have a complete first aid kit. Evidence: the first aid kit did not have 2 triangular bandages, a digital thermometer, or scissors. Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase the remaining items for the first aid kit.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-770 Description: Based on observation, the provider did not have all emergency supplies as required. Evidence: the provider did not have a portable, battery operated weather band radio with extra batteries. Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase a weather band radio.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D Description: Based on observation, the provider did not have a diapering surface that is non-absorbent and washable. Evidence: The diaper pad was made of a soft material and was covered in a fabric covering. The diaper pad should be washed with soap and water, sanitized with a bleach water solution, and allowed to air dry for a minimum of two minutes. Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase a non-absorbent diaper pad.
