Discussed house and contents. Discussed paperwork required in the event a household member becomes back up caregiver.
An unannounced inspection has been conducted. There were nine children present (household member was one) and the Inspector and Provider discussed capacity. Two caregivers were present for a total of 27 points. The Provider is not MAT certified and paperwork acknowledges the parents understand medication is not administered. Children's records were complete and household and caregivers records were complete. Please call with questions 703-479-4679
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D Description: Based on observation, the households medication is not locked up. Plan of Correction: I will put in a child free access place.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-40-A Description: Based on observation, the Provider is over capacity by one child. Evidence: 1. The Inspector arrived and observed 9 children present. The license has a documented capacity of 7. 2. Out of the 9 children, 1 child is a household member and Provider stated funds are not received for that child. 3. Provider stated child #2 is leaving today and the only reason the child is here is because the Provider received a text on Monday stating child #1 would not be present all week. The Provider stated the child just arrived today. The Provider showed the Inspector the text that stated child #1 was not going to be here this week. Plan of Correction: I already sent a message to have child picked up and I will not go over capacity.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-360-B Description: Based on observation, the Provider does not have sufficient number of containers for trash. Evidence: 1. Inspector observed full trash bags stacked up outside in the front of the house and around the large full trash can. The Inspector also observed bags of trash upstairs and trash outside on the deck. Plan of Correction: I will be putting all out this evening and will have outside cleaned up this weekend.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-D Description: Based on observation, the Provider is not using boaster seats and high chairs according to manufacturers instructions. Evidence: 1. The Inspector observed three children sitting in three different high chairs and only one child was 12 months old. The other two children were over two years of age and these high chairs state under two years of age. 2. The boaster seats are meant to be hooked up to chairs and were on the floor. Plan of Correction: We will remove straps and use regular chairs for the older children.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-B Description: Based on observation, two children were observed being kept in the cribs and not for sleep but as a location to stay while playing. Evidence: 1. The Inspector observed two children over 12 months of age standing in cribs while the caregivers were present and an activity was under way. One child was observed putting a mouth over the wooded barrier and the inspector noted both cribs had peeling paint and teeth marks on barriers. Plan of Correction: I will bring older children in one room and have assistant keep younger children in another room.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D Description: Based on observation, the Provider has used the changing table to put items on the surface. Evidence: 1. Inspector observed the Provider take files and the cell phone and place these items on the changing surface. Plan of Correction: I will make sure I will not place on changing surface.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-E Description: Based on observation, the diapers are not disposed of in a leak proof storage system. Evidence: 1. Inspector arrived and stood outside entrance and observed three disposed of diapers sitting in a small open trash can that has a screened base and no liner. Plan of Correction: Will put a trash can outside that is foot operated.
