An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, February 26, 2016 to check for compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:20 am and concluded the inspection at 12:45 pm. There were nine children present with two caregivers for a total of 22 points. Upon the inspectors arrival, children were gathered in a group watching a video on friendship and then participated in a children's yoga exercise video with the caregiver. Later children played with a variety of toys (kitchen set, cars, blocks). The children also had group time where they reviewed the alphabet, numbers, shapes and baby animal names. Children and caregivers sang songs and interacted in a positive manner. Caregivers were observed rocking and holding infants. Children had bathroom breaks, diapering and hand washing in preparation for lunch. Today's lunch consisted of chicken nuggets, sliced apples (applesauce for the younger children), corn, bread and milk. This was a change and was noted on the menu. The playground and deck area were inspected. All repairs had been completed to the deck. Areas used for child care were inspected and a walk through of the entire home was conducted with the provider. The provider had the license, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, menu and information for parents posted. The family day home has age and stage appropriate materials. The first aid kit and non medical emergency supplies were inspected and found to be complete. The Inspector interacted with caregivers and children enrolled. Last evacuation drill was on 02/01/2016 and the two shelter in place drills for 2016 were conducted on 02/01/2016 and 02/25/2016. The provider does not administer medication nor provide transportation. Both caregivers have current CPR and First aid training. The provider's record and caregiver's record were reviewed (see violation notice) along with the records of eleven children enrolled. The violations from the previous inspection on July 22, 2015 were check for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today's inspection. The provider has submitted a complete renewal application and a renewal license will be recommended. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.

Caregiver #1's annual training record had a total of 10 hours documented for the 2015 year when 16 hours was required.
