Technical Assistance:
Consultation was given on programming that develops creativity, a sense of exploration (science and outside play), and following a schedule each day. Children arrive at different times but it is important to have set times to do art activities and outside play (based on the weather). Licensing Inspector reinforced the need to get outside every day, letting in natural light into the day care space and games, toys and supplies that promote creativity. childcareva.com is a new web site developed by VA DSS to promote caregiver resources as well as send out information and changes to day care standards. Changes to the Criminal Record Checks (CRC) will be found on the web site. All providers and household members will need new CRC checks that require fingerprinting as of July 2017. Please check website for additional information on this requirement as it becomes available.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today. Three children were in care for seven points with the provider. Children were resting and transitioning to lunch during the inspection. One child's record was reviewed as well as the provider's and household member's record. Emergency drills, written plan and FA/CPR certifications are current. Please sign and date the report and return it to me within 10 calendar days from date of receipt. If you have any questions regarding the inspection, please feel free to contact me. Thank you Ann Dramstad Licensing Inspector 703-314-0860 ann.dramstad@dss.virginia.gov
