An initial licensing inspection was conducted on May 27, 2016, by appointment, between the hours of approximately 2:00 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. There were six children enrolled and five children in the care of the provider and assistant on this date. The provider's record, assistant's record, three household members' records and five children's records were reviewed. The home and outdoor play area were toured, available records/documents and caregiver training (first aid/cardiopulmonary resuscitation) were reviewed and safety equipment was inspected (first aid kit, land line telephone, flashlight, fire extinguisher and radio). Posted information (daily schedule, emergency telephone numbers and emergency evacuation diagram), storage of cleaning supplies/hazardous substances and verification of rabies immunizations for the family pets were reviewed/observed. Program observation was completed. Activities observed on this date included: naptime; restroom/handwashing procedures; outdoor play; snack time (apple slices and milk); indoor play and pick-up/departure of the children. Adult/child interactions, behavior guidance and daily routines/transitions were also observed. The provider and assistant were observed to be patient and able to meet the individual needs of the children within a mixed age grouping. The daily schedule was consistent with the activities provided. The children knew and followed the daily routine and transitions well. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this initial inspection. Follow-up regarding infant cribs will be completed before license issuance will be recommended . Thank you for your time and assistance during the licensing process. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
